Confidence

Confidence, confidence, wherefore art thou, confidence?

Confidence... where do we get it from? How do we gain confidence? How come some people are more confident than others? Is there any hope in my gaining confidence?

Yes.

Confidence is a very interesting topic. You see, some people are BORN confident!

I... on the other hand, wasn't so 'fortunate.' hehehehe.

Growing up, I've always been pretty... no VERY shy. I stuck to myself. I was a creative child so maybe I'd draw and write in my free time, but whenever I was around people, I closed up like clam shell.

I didn't know the first thing about confidence! And it didn't feel very good. In person I'd say one thing, but by myself I'd wish I said something different. I'd wish I was more open, more honest, more loving, more genuine.

For the longest time I've struggled in learning about how to be confident. Moving to Hawaii from Davis, I had learned how to open up A LOT... and it seemed to come to me naturally as a result of constant practice.. constantly putting myself out there to express my true nature.

But then coming home, I lost that confidence. Again. I was in a new environment, a foreign one that what I have been used to and I didn't readily put myself out there to talk with people who are especially of a notable ranks; pastors, teachers, politicians, doctors etc etc. Even if I had something to say, I'd hesitate greatly and wonder if what I had to say was truly important.

Until, at my home church, I learned something about confidence.

Confidence comes as a result of an innate knowing. An inner awareness. It comes as a result of constantly being in contact or connection with your inner being and this must be a STRONG connection a.k.a. awareness of your inner being.

Your inner being, your Spirit, is where Truth is. If you are not in contact with this aspect of your being you will doubt yourself. You will be swayed by your fleeting thoughts that contradict themselves and thus leave you confused, hesistant, unsure, anxious.

True confidence comes of knowing your inner Self, your Higher Self, that is. This is your true Self. There is no other true Self outside of this. Ego is not yourself. It is the fleeting thoughts you sometimes associate with and attempt to call yourself. "I'm Bob. I'm a lawyer. I'm a father. I'm this or that." These are thoughts, not fact.

The fact is that you are an eternal spiritual being. This is your true Self. It is also known as the Higher Self. Your Higher Self can only be known from within. When you know this, when you connect with It and become One with it, you are free and you are confident.

Your Higher Self is the source of all wisdom, all guidance, all Truth.

When you tap into it, confidence will no longer be an issue. You will no longer be lost. You will no longer worry whether or not you should say something or not. You will no longer be hesistant about talking to certain people as Spirit leads you to.

The reason is because as you tap into your Higher Self (your inner awareness), 'you,' the seperate self based in ego, no longer becomes the one acting. It is your Higher Self which works through you that acts. You and your Higher Self have become One. And when you have become One with your Higher Self, you will no longer experience resistence in what your inner guidance system leads you to do. You will be live a smooth and effortless life. All people will be looked at as an extension of your Self, and you will naturally treat them all equally, with love, as if they are all family.

So, confidence is byproduct of inner awareness. When you are at One with your True Self being confident comes naturally.

~Namaste~
